Sydney Institute of TAFE
In May, 130 Hairdressing Apprentices from the Sydney Institute of TAFE received their graduation certificates and their IPSN certification. At the graduation we were treated to a show from Sustainable Salons Australia. This organisation is leading the way with sustainability in the hairdressing industry. They collect all hairdressing waste from salons and recycle and donate to charities. They showed what is possible with salon recycled waste with some very futuristic designs using, hair, foil, tint tubes and plastics all from salons. This company is leading the way when it comes to sustainability and it’s the hairdressing that is benefiting.
Also the students from the Beauty Services department of the college recently had their graduation. These students completed their training in 2016 and returned to receive their Diploma’s at Sydney TAFE’s beautiful Turner Hall. The evening showcased the talent and creativity of the graduates in a show depicting the fashion and styling trends from popular movies and era’s.
Graduates received their awards for the Diploma of Beauty Therapy, Diploma of Specialised Make-Up Services, Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy and Certificate III in Beauty Services. Students expressed great admiration and gratitude to their teachers for their commitment, dedication and patience during their training. The Diploma of Beauty Therapy graduates were also eligible to receive their IPSN certifications. They were delighted with receiving 2 parchments in the one evening. The Diploma’s and IPSN certificates were presented by Jane Trewin who received the IPSN Award of Honour in April 2017.
